Default Mixing tyres

16k into XC60 ownership and very happy so far as evidenced by little need to post here.....particularly happy to have chosen the auto...particularly unhappy I was too tight to stump up for the DSP

Anyway the supplied front tyres are not long for this world. Rears are fine. I know I should have rotated them but y'know life and that.....

Would like to get the Nokian Weatherproofs that get recommended a lot around here. Question is would you get 2 for now or just bite the bullet and get 4?

My advice - don't mix all season tyres with summer tyres, you will be asking for trouble.

Go for all 4 - I have just had the Weatherproofs fitted and am very pleased with them.

Check the internet tyre suppliers - I got mine for £107 each and had them delivered to my local garage who fitted them for £12 each.

Hope that helps

Not a good idea to mix tyres.
Either get two new OME, or four Nokian's.

I changed all 4 on my XC60 but it's annoying when 2 tyres would have done another 5-6k. On my other car l put cross climates on the back first with summers still on the front and then after 6k changed to nokians moving CC to front. I am sure people will have opinions on differential grip etc but that varies anyway with a mix of summer brands and tread depth. Tyre place said no problem to mix if both same on each axle and new to the rear. I certainly didn't notice any difference in hard braking in very wet and cold weather.

Thanks all. Think I will get all 4 done.

Looking online Black Circles will do me 4 Goodyear Wrangler HP all weathers for £118 each fully fitted which seems a pretty good price and seem well reviewed also?

Whilst I'm sure the Nokians are excellent this is sort of putting me off...

eBay the two rears, you should get a good price for them. Probably enough to pay for one tyre at least.

It is a fact that you can only rely on the test batch of any tyre exhibiting the same characteristics as ones tested. The BHPV club tested a hundred or so tyres of all makes and none were produced identical results from batch to batch. Some were more consistent than others though and generally the best tyres always gave the best results from batch to batch.

There is enough independent testing to be sure that the Nokians are a good tyre.

I would not concern yourself, regarding the article.
Along with many others, I have been using Nokian Tyres for well over 20 years.
In all this time I have never had an issue with them.

Agree, we have used Nokian winters and found them to be absolutely fine. So much so, we bought a second set when the first batch wore out. Would buy them again.
