Default Mercedes GLC?

Has anyone considered replacing their XC60 with a GLC?
Not seen one out and about, but it seems to get a good review.

Ive looked at one, but its a bit small imo, the cabin in the rear is a tad smaller. Dash is lovely appart from that god awful tablet screen. The 220 engine is fairly gruff aswell.

I'm in the process of investigating my next car for 2017 and so far I've narrowed it down to (although this may change again!).......

Mercedes GLC 250d AMG Line
Disco Sport HSE Black or Luxury
Audi Q5 (new model)-----depends on what it's like when it's announced

Think these will be out of my price range.......

Audi Q7 S Line
Volvo XC90 R Design

I must admit though that the Merc does look lovely ......apart from the screen!!

Member drpepper has ordered one.
I have seen two on the road now. They look very smart. Two problems I see.
NO SPARE WHEEL.
The 'love it or loath it' iPad-style infotainment screen. Now the functionality may be great, so this would go some way to make it acceptable, but it is rather amusing to see New Mercs on the motorway driving past with over-size iPads on the dashboard.
Some have commented about the rough 2.2 engine, so check this out.
As always, a LONG test drive is the only way to make an assessment.
Personally, as you live in the Scottish Highlands, for the same reasons as my remote North Pennine location, I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole.
Scenario. Serious tyre blow-out miles from anywhere. Tyre repair kit useless. No mobile phone reception. You are completely stuffed.

Out of curiosity I have looked at the GLC brochure. You can option run-flat tyres, BUT only with 20" wheels. So, the 'sensible 235/65R17 or 235/60R18 wheels (as on the XC60) are 'normal' but you have to specify 255/45R20 at £595 and ONLY available on the AMG Line specification to get run-flats. Nuts.
So, the questions are, can you get all-season or winter run-flat tyres in the 17" or 18" sizes ? If not, look elsewhere. MB have some serious issues here. This is an SUV. Many drivers will take it into the more remote places and will expect to fit all-season or winter tyres. AWD is no substitute for appropriate tyres on snow and ice.
Somebody lost the plot here.

Update.
Just checked Oponeo for run-flats.
235/65R17 or 255/45R20 have no Premium winter or all-season options.
235/60R18 has ONE available tyre. Pirelli Scorpion Verde All Season.
So this would be the route to go. However, I would then be wanting to test drive the car on these tyres to check the ride with the 'run-flat' walls.

I posted this thread after a friend of mine has just returned from a 6 week visit to his son in Australia.
While there, he did hours of research, on line to find a replacement for his 3 year old Freelander.
On the flight home, the decision was made, it is going to be a Merc GLC.

This morning he set off to place an order with the Merc dealership and driving into town, the first thing he spots is a BMW dealer. Stops and thinks (he is a stingy Yorkshire man), I wonder what deals are on, now that the 1st of March is past.
To cut a long story short, he left BMW, buying a stock BMW X3 Sport with all the extras, for less than the GLC would have cost.
The car is coming with 19" wheels and where my friend lives (Saddleworth), there are potholes everywhere.
I think he will be visiting his dentist shortly.

What a man.
In all the time I have known him, I have never been able to tie him down, regarding cars/ motor bikes.

As a footnote-
My friend is 72 and my son is 51 and both regard, any Volvo, as old mans cars.
Me, close on 75 and love them.

Found this in the Australian GLC brochure.
Emergency Spare Wheel
--- 19-inch space saver steel wheel (A2534000300), spare wheel bag (A0005851000) and vehicle tool kit
(A1665800400)

No sign of this option in the UK. Do any German speakers fancy looking in the German GLC brochure ?

The Mercedes 200, 220, 250 4 pot diesel is an excellent performer, but is well behind the Volvo VEA in refinement, its pretty harsh rough and noisy when extended, even in the E Class.

A colleague of mine has just taken delivery of one and another has ordered one, hoping for a good look next time we are both in the office. The one I have seen on the road does look good, but a touch smaller than the XC60
