Something not quite right with this engine downsizing business
Totally agree. To be fair, Seat are also supplying this car with a the standard VAG 2.0d engine, which is the one most people will buy. The 1.0l engine is pretty much for show or to achieve emmissions average blah de blah. The car will barely move with that engine or will be so noisy and tiring to drive that you will be desperate to trade it in.

Not sure, but I think that it is better left to the XC90.
It will be a right pain if one is forced to buy an XC60 with 7 seats, ok if it is an option.

If they used the boot space to create the additional seats to make it 7 and then I would not but an XC60. If it was an optional upgrade I would stick with the car.

The old XC90 lost oodles of space to these extra seats that I would never use - one of the reasons I ended up with the 60 rather than 90.

I hadn't actually looked at the link but now I have it is clear it is
cobbled together garbage.

Pictures of all new XC90, what looks like interior of V/XC70, very early artist impression of current generation XC60. with what appears to be bits and bobs pulled from a mixture of articles. very messy and poor

Obviously the current generation XC60 is unable to offer 7 seats but it is certainly an option for the all new model which will possibly be MY18.
Most 7 seat vehicles use the fold into boot floor option

I must be missing something.......but all the XC90s I've seen (current and old models) have seats 6 and 7 fold into the boot floor totally flat, i.e. you don't lose any boot space in 'normal' 5-seat mode.

I'd have a 7-seat XC60 (if having 7 seats wasn't an option) as it would invariably mean a bigger car and thus a bigger boot.

I'd just never use the two extra seats.

the 2 folding seats will probably steal the space to put in a spare tyre and will definitely add weight which costs money to drag around.

If they don't fit the seats then either you could have a spare wheel or more storage space

I'd love a 7 seat XC60. I can see them doing that for the 2018 model, as it would compete with the Disco sport.

I'd urge caution on that story. It's from September last year and I've not found much about the new facelift on more credible car sites.

I was in the Volvo Dealership on Wednesday and talked about the upcoming facelift (I was told orders start on March 17th). Apparently there's some photoshopped pictures (like this link) showing an XC60 with XC90 headlights but it's false.

The major overhaul of the XC60 is (I'm told) not due til 2017-18, with an XC40 due first.

The MY17 XC60 will be a minor facelift rather than making it into a smaller XC90.

So my local Volvo dealer says anyway and as I had just asked him what the lead time was on a new XC60, I can't believe he'd try and put me off spending more on the new version.

We've got a week to wait and see
