Default Fuel consumption

Daily commute Swansea to Cardiff 44.8 average speeds all motorway
Swansea to Exeter this week 45.2 down on cruise most of the way rush hour and 48.4 coming back
When towing no more than 23mpg
App says 34 average after 12147 miles
March 31st car XC90
Not too bad as still running in , previous xc 60 improved after 20000 miles
Better consumption with Morrisons fuel, 4-5 miles per gallon less with Tesco fuel

Have you tried Shell V power or BP equivalent.

I honestly don't know how you guys do it.

My average is 29.43 mpg (UK), with a mix of highway and city, and I've been driving with a very light foot.

The lowest I've seen is 35mpg at 120kph on a highway with a slight downslope...

Granted my car is brand new and the mileage will improve with time, but 44mpg!?!?

I did a couple of 140 mile runs recently and got 45 mpg overall both times. This was mostly motorway with about 20 miles of rural roads at the end of the journey. On the motorway stretch at 70 mph with PA2 on I got over 47 mpg. My long term consumption is 33.3 mpg but I do make lots of short journeys normally (although I do have the aux heater to pre-heat the engine which helps).

35 mpg on the highway doesn't seem right, especially as you are (presumably) driving in warmer conditions.

I am amazed in general how consistent the figures are across the D5's. Average overall low to mid 30's, Motorway low to mid 40's.

Like Lexman I do more shorter journeys in my XC90 D5 but did come up the M6 from Stafford last week. This was a mix of 50 limit, then higher speed, then 8 miles rural. Happy with 49.5 mpg.

That is good and rare to see anyone close to Volvo claimed mpg.
What is your real average overall.

Mine's a 10 month old D5 with 5.5K miles on the clock.

Recently did two 225 mile trips from London to Wales (and back) and averaged 46 mpg in Comfort mode.

I also do a lot of very short journeys (under 2 miles) around town and the mpg drops to 20s and sometimes even lower.
