Default Started shopping about for options

Well as I'm not one to let the grass grow under my feet I've been shopping about online trying to suss out the costs.

The cheapest M41 I can find is advertised at 800 euros. There's a dealer who advertises a reconditioned unit at 2200 euros but then you have to give one back...

...I found a fully reconditioned unit advertised at 1500 euros but when I contacted the seller via marktplaats (kind of a Dutch version of ebay) all of the bells and whistles went off: Marktplaats seem to use xenophobia as a warning about dodgy sellers. They send out a helpful warning saying "we think this seller is somewhere abroad - be careful when dealing with foreigners!" I've been to visit such people after getting a warning and yep - they're quite obviously problem children...

#######

Working on the principle that you need to cut the transmission tunnel for any gearbox with an overdrive it seems logical to choose the stronger gearbox with the stronger overdrive. Second hand M46 (with overdrive) seem to be selling at about 200 to 250 euros.

Oh I don't know this PV is now turning into a project car...

Default I've been naughty...

...bit of midnight shopping produced this =>

I'm not sure if I'll use it just yet - it is the so so so much cheaper M46 option listed in the poll. Stronger gearbox apparently so it is an upgrade in that respect.

I'm going to take it to bits first to see if it will cut the mustard. And then I need to see if I can weld aluminium castings (never done that before so it could be fun)

As I've recently bought an AC/DC TIG amplifier and a load of extra gas welding equipment I'm first going to try and teach myself before I go to plan B and pay someone 200 euros for the welding work.

I've got a feeling I'm going to do better with the gas welding equipment than the TIG (I'm awkward like that - when the interweb says I "must" use TIG - I usually find that the contrary works better for me!)
