Default Arghhhhhh popped my headgasket!!!!!!

Actuator line split at the turbo over boosted and now I have fumes pressurising my header tank. Can't afford to fix ATM and no space or time or enthusiasm to DIY it, so may be for sale or swap soon!

Just did a compression test and it's slightly down on No.3. Figures in bar were:

12.3, 12.0, 11.4, 12.1

Hi Mitch,
Strange it is number 3 cylinder they usually go between 1 & 2!

But anyhow although no. 3 is only 13psi difference and i think another 4psi
and you are allowed 29psi, but that is only allowing for wear on rings valves seat etc and does not mean if the head gasket has gone which you are allowed nothing psi as the gasket is faulty. So that is the reason for the muddy reservoir you mention elswhere!

I think you are really lucky it`s only the gasket, how long will a gasket take you to do Mitch??

Keith

I hope its just the gasket mate. We will only know 100% when the head is off. My mate is going to do it it for me for £250 at his workshop. I havent got the tools or space to do it at home and seems a fair price. Might put a 1.9 head on it so i dont have to keep adjusting the solid lifters. Im not bothered about revving past 6.5k anyway.

Quote from tuning articles that i keep if it helps you?

"Tested the limit of the hydro lifters on my engine. After short reving at 7200 rpm's two hydro valve lifters started to knock on idle for about 5 mins. After that period they settled back to normal. So, basically that means 7000 rpm should be a kind of safe limit"
