Default Anyone in (SE) London able to help with DICE/VIDA please?

Hi there

I was windering if someone could either lend me the diagnostic equipment, or come visit me in Peckham? I can recompensate for the trouble.

My 2005 automatic V70 2.0 won't start so unfortunately can't come to you

The problem: My car won't start, shows a 'Start Prevented Try Again' message.

I've trawled the forum for possible causes, and tried a lot of the solutions people give on here - resettting the immobiliser, replacing antenna ring, shifting between park and neutral several times. I've stopped short of taking the CEM out to check for water damage or dodgy connections as I strugged to get the CEM out in a way that I was confident I could put it back in.

I'm hoping by running diagnostics I can get closer to working out what the problem is, and decide whether it's worth paying to get the car towed to Sentinel Volvo in Tottenham for them to fix.

I've let my MOT lapse, so no roadside assistance will help me (stupid, stupid, expensive mistake!)

Thanks in advance

Dan

Have you thought about buying a used vida laptop on ebay & selling it on again after using it? I'm all the way in Taunton so can't help I'm afraid.
Also, how about getting a mobile mechanic out with a decent generic reader to see what they can find wrong? You can get a lot of info even from a good generic tool from what I found with my local garage who had a snap on one. Could your local volvo come out to you if you ask them nicely?
Good luck

How urgent? I'm in Bromley with VIDA. PM me your address and a phone number and I'll see if I can help.

Hi Tomoose, it appears I don't have enough posts on the forum to send messages yet.

Thanks for your offer! Really appreciate it. I don't want to tow the thing to a garage only to find it needs £1000s to repair it, so would be good to try work out what's going on.

I'd be happy to give you some money for the trouble. Also I could come grab the reader and return it to you in the same day if you'd prefer.

My postcode is SE15 4UH

If you can DM me perhaps I'll be able to reply, and I'll send you my address and phone number. Cheers

Thanks again!
