Default Remaining Volvo 1800 in the world

Based on photos in the Volvo 1800 chassis register and information from several Volvo clubs and national registration offices I have made an estimate of how many 1800 are still remaining and in what state and condition they are The information has been collected during my 17 years as administrator of the 1800 chassis register and it is still updated almost daily. Here is a link. http://volvo1800pictures.com/product...1800_world.php and here a direct link to the 1800 chassis register https://volvo1800pictures.com/PHPMaker/1800/index.php

Interesting numbers

Have you ever considered comparing your numbers with the production numbers showing how many are left?

I imagine that as these vehicles have nearly always been popular more have survived than other vehicle types.

Default % of 1800ES 1973

I am sure you are right in saying that more have survived than other vehicle type. If we look at 1800 ES 1973 for example

Looks roadworthy = 948
Not roadworthy = 140
Unknown state (from lists etc) = 796

A total of 1885 which is 37% of all produced

Karl,
Very interesting statistics.
Can you throw any light on the huge number of unroadworthy cars in the Swedish figures. Is this in part because of the hostile winter climate there, or because of stringent legal requirements?
It is also interesting that so many cars went to Australia. Any rationale?

Two reasons for the great number of "not roadworthy cars" in Sweden.

-Many of the produced 1800 went to the Swedish market (We love our Volvos)

-I have a complete list of all Volvo 1800 in Sweden from "Transportstyreelsen" (Swedish DVLA) were I can see exactly how many 1800 have or have not recieved a roadworthy certificate (MOT) recently. The cars with "unknown state" in Sweden has for some reason a no longer valid registration number

Unfortunately I don't have as detailed information from other countries.

Why so many cars went to Austrlia? I don't know maybe someone else can answer

My guess: A dyslexic compiler.

Compare the figures for Australia and Austria.

Default Data for UK registered vehcles

Hi for vehicles in the UK it is possible to search for the number that have a license to drive on the road (MOT) through the website https://www.howmanyleft.co.uk/

a search for Volvo 1800 for 2018 gives;

1800E 51
1800ES 45
1800 ES Auto 2
1800S 152
P1800 110

With the recent change in the UK law which means that vehicles older than 40 years (which meet certain criteria) no longer require an MOT this this data will be more difficult to get.

Looking at the data by year (see attached picture) the number of UK cars registered seems to be pretty stable over the last 17 years.

addendum The figures I quoted are for licensed (MOT) vehicles for those SORN'd (Statutory Off Road Notification) there is separate data which can bee seen when a particular model is selected on the website https://www.howmanyleft.co.uk/

for example Volvo 1800S in 2018 there were 152 MOT'd and 96 SORN'd giving a total of 248.

That is interesting. 360 with license to drive on the road compared to my figure of 548 that "looks roadworthy" in UK. So 188 cars that looks ok do not have a valid MOT. Thank you for the link I didn't know about that website.

In relation to the Polish part of the list, these are cars imported in the last 25 years mainly from the USA (some in a state beyond reasonable restoration). I heard only one P1800 purchased as a new one in the 60's, but it can be an urban legend as the cars behind the iron curtain were extremely expensive. I know most cars from the list and at least 4-5 which there are not, some may be on the list for USA. My P1800 is given as driving in Sweden - entered in the list in 2015 despite being in Poland since 2010

Please help me correct what you see is missing and incorrect about Polish cars on the list. Your car listed to be in Sweden, which one is that? My email is karl@volvo1800pictures.com
thank you
