Audi 100 BMW 325 touring -Discovery - Range Rover - Audi s6 Avant - Audi A4 2.5 tdi quattr0 -all bought new.

Volvo XC60 D5 se lux geartronic - my first Volvo and a very good car indeed.
Exceedingly comfortable, and plenty quick enough.

13000 miles in 8 months, 33mpg. Only whinge, I should have got the DAB radio, as I can't listen to the cricket. Is there an aftermarket fit (not a Parrot) that I can buy?

Hi

On the whole happy but see my post below re the Active cruise control.
Body work is very thin and I have 3 car park dents. There is no rubber on the doors where other cars hit it with their doors. 43.7 MPG now over 13K miles. got it over 48 when in France on quiet National (A) roads over a 2k trip.

Yes the bodywork is very thin; the bonnet is unbelievably light for its size.

Being a fairly wide bodied vehicle it also seems to fill up the tightly sized parking spaces used here in the UK .With no side strip protectors the bodywork looks to be wide open to dints from other car doors. Funny how one never seems to notice theses minor things when making ones initial purchase! Oh well maybe next time.

Having had in the past an Audi TT which had the same kind of problem (ie, nice rounded sides that lent themselves perfectly to the frustrations of other drivers in car parks!) you'd have thought I would have flagged this up. But no.

There are no 'rubbing strips' available as an option either. Right its the 'comfort parking' spaces for me when mine arrives in September (although for a good few years at the supermarket etc, I'll be using the mum and baby spaces anyway )

I have running boards which because of their height stop other car's doors hitting yours. Quite nifty. Of course they don't work against other 4x4s which are higher off the ground. The boards have saved my doors a number of times (I know as I was in the car at the time).

In fact when we went to collect the car it was raining so the car was parked under a shelter. As we were being shown how things work inside a guy from the garage pulled up along side us under the shelter in a new C30 for the owners to be shown around. He opened the door a bit too enthusiastically and hit my car, there was a collective gasp from all of us inside and the salesman opened the door and said "oh it's alright, he just hit the running boards". Don't know what happened to the C30 (I don't think it was damaged) but mine was fine.

The salesman told me yesterday it was composite material which explains the lightness. Well if plastic is good enough for the SMART car...... :-)

Well I have just been having a look at mine and if it’s a composite material it’s doing a good impression of being metal!

Tried a fridge magnet and it doesn’t stick so it is as you say some type of composite material, very light. It cheered me up because I thought if it’s all that thin and light and was metal it seemed too light. I wonder what it is?
