Default Fitting the Drives Information Centre

I'm sure its been covered, but I can't find anything in the search

I've got a set of clock and switch out of a S70 with info centre, is it possible to install in a S70 without the info centre, if so, what do I need to watch out for??

All I can say is that the application software will cost you £188.62 if the car is up to 1998, or if its a 1999 on then the software costs £220.06, plus any labour the dealer will charge to program. The clocks are the same with or without info centre, you just buy a switch ,and then using software the car is upgraded.

Ok, while searching through Fleebay, I had a brain wave, what if I had an ECU from a car which had the info centre?? There's 3 listed for £15+p&p

I recently purchased a second hand clock set and switch and when i plugged them in, the info centre came straight up and worked without any problems. Only downside was it showed the mileage from the car the clocks came from.

h.t.h.

This is what I'm afraid of, if I plug these clocks in, will the mileage on these clocks store in the ECU??

I've put my original clocks back in and the mileage went back down again.

The S70 is fairly basic with regards to software nothing like 1999 and later cars !
The software would go into the instrument panel itself just to activate the trip computer which is already there .Kind of switch it on .
You could use the complete instrument panel you have just bought as stated above . but will have that cars mileage . OR you could have a look inside and see if the trip module is detachable ( like it is in the 850 ) and just swap that over ... But i think the easiest way is just put up with the wrong mileage and add a correction sticker to remind you .

Thanks Clan, only thing is, I liek this car so much, it has only turned 80k and I'm $hit scared doing something to damage / ruin the car lol. I'd do without the info centre if it ment having to have the wrong mileage. There's a black box on the top of this speedo cluster, it that the immob box or something else? If I were to swap the speedo head from my clocks to the info clocks, would my mileage show on the info clock set? Or is there like an ECU in the clock set?

you could try the other instrument set see what the mileage actualy is , it may be similar ,,
The box on top is the receiver for the remote fob signals.
there is a printed circuit board and micro processors in the instrument panel all is stored here , you can change the mechanical instruments ok with no problem .
