Sunroof help
Need some advice on my sunroof please guys, tilt function works okay but when trying to slide open, the rear drops down ready to slide under the roof but that’s all it does.
It closes again but won’t slide open...any ideas please ? |

Not so special as I also have a sunroof, however mine works as intended therefore maybe yours is special after all.
Usually some plastic or metal part on the slide that causes the problem and I would think the only way to find out is to remove it Sorry I can't be of morehelp with your dilemma

Most of us avoid such special sunroof equipped cars, because we know how special the sunroof system is and how prone it is to special little breakdowns.

When I bought mine the sunroof functioned much like yours except it made a small effort to retract. Figured go big or go home so “assisted” it backwards (heaved on it whilst someone worked the switch..). Found the sunroof tracks gunged up with sticky old grease and dirt. Used a rag, a small brush and some wd40 to break down and clean up the tracks, used some graphite spray lube (solvent flashes off and just leaves the graphite behind so as not to attract dirt in the future) them worked it back and forth, functions perfectly still 4 years later. Maybe try assisting yours slightly and see if it does anything? All at your own risk of course...

Most likely there's something stuck in the rails. Mine was doing the same thing, ended up replacing it (because the metal frame was rusted) and the rails were full of gunk

If its not glass and is of the headliner type, then sometimes the headliner can be too thick if replaced and will cause the sunroof to jam.
Effectively you have a jam somewhere for whatever reason, the fact the sunroof does something when you hit the button proves the electronics. |
