Hello.
Does anyone have a power steering unit for sale and any tips on how to fit it to my 63 Jensen P1800? Many thanks. CK |

Hi, I bought a 164 power steering unit and pump for my 140. Unfortunately being in a rush did not realise until afterwards the units would not fit onto a 140. A serious lesson learnt. If you are interested send me a PM. I will say that they are heavy items and the postage is not cheap. In additon I have now idea how the items would fit an 1800. Perhaps other can help

The 164 is 9 inches longer at the front than a 144. so the steering column will be on a different angle and longer, plus the inner guard is not the same, I do not think it will fit without making a mess of your 1800, going electric would do the the job but it's over a Grand, MUCHO PESCO .

Note that P1800 came in '61 and is based on the Amazon frame. Amazon servo does to my knowledge not exist. Engineroom in the P18 is very tight.

For an 1800, electric power steering seems to be the way to go.
http://www.ezpowersteering.nl/index.php?p=3 As an alternative to an ezsteer kit, arcturus recently had a custom electric PAS installation made; I'm sure he could supply contact details: http://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?t=133824 John |

The power steering units originated on a Corsa B as far as I know. Plenty of those around.
