Did you manage to get it fixed and if so, do you know what was the cause please? This has just happened to my 2014 V40 today.
I've not taken mine to the dealer yet as I've just started looking in to it. |

To respond to my own question, the dealer has found that it's due to a controller fault and that it needs replacing along with the relevant software upgrade. They also straight out offered a 50% goodwill gesture, which was greatly received! Socall in all its cost £150 to find the fault, then £469.50 (£939 total) for the parts and labour to install and install the software.
Hope this helps someone if they have this issue too! |

V40 Infotainment System Died
I also just suffered the black screen of death on my 2014 V40.. nothing on the screen at all.. system working one day then total failure the next... it has taken out BLIS, CTA and rear parking systems.
Does anyone have a definitive cause of this failure as I don't have £2k to spare on Volvos guesswork? I have self diagnosed using my clone Vida Dice and it reports its lost comms with the ICM module which has killed all systems in the MOST circuit. All fuses are good... I have been looking round and many experts are saying the MOST security system prevents changing modules for second hand units but then again you find as many articles of owners swapping and hanging units adding NAV functionality and increasing screen size etc with Volvo happily performing software upgrades to get it all working. So which is the truth? Any information would be greatly appreciated before I spend hours in the cold pulling plugs. |

Thanks for replying.
Tried pulling the 30amp fuse whilst I was going through the fuses. Even tried disconnecting the battery overnight.... made the auto gear box work better! The system came back to life on it's own and has worked for a couple of weeks now.... could it be damp as I have not used the car much due to the pandemic. I had a week off over Xmas and used it every day and it just came on one day. I can't feel any damp under the seats.. any ideas? |

It's just overload on the fiber network. The audio satnav and blis and on the same loom. The volvo had some issues that have been resolved with software update or under warranty they were replacing the units.
