...Sits back and watches the entertainment....

However, I'm not an autobox fan but have been pleasantly surprised. To say the car has 170,000 miles on it the box is smooth, I've changed it's oil but prior to that it appeared original.
Leaving it in drive it's usually doing what I want and has only been in what I'd consider to be the wrong gear a couple of times.
Only way to really tell it's changing is the change in rpm, having read all the scare stories I was worried it would be clunky but it's smooth as anything.

We've got a couple like that, too. Must be Friday afternoon ones, I guess

Mines a 07 geartronic 185. On a motorway run 70 80 mph ish onboard comp is showing 46.5. For the last few months normal a and b roads it fluctuates between 42.1 and 42.3 but that's only what onboard comp is showing. That's not drinving like miss daisy,it does have a proper right foot
Session fairly often.

The only auto gearboxes that are better than manuals in driving are the robot manuals
The old fashioned ones like these are parasitic in fuel and power and to indirect to drive
Maybe a CVT auto if the hydraulic friction is solved
