Not sure but I think it might be the original exhaust as I can't find any invoices in the paperwork for a replacement

Bit more done today and please to say the only rust I found was the towbar.

I was going to take it off and paint it but with the thought of bolts snapping I decided to clean it up in situ

This must have been how the underside of the 850 looked when it left the factory

Rust eradicated

Just been out and given a neighbour a jump start for his van, I'd report what he said but I'm sure the forum language filter would only allow 'French' and 'heap of' , I told him the old Swede was happy to help.

Well worth the expense. My V70 came with fronts fitted so tried to fit the cheapo fit-every-make-model universal type to the rear without success. Finally coughed up for the genuine ones last year which fitted easily, look good and also work well with no more leaves, mud and whatever stuck along the side of the rear bumper after every outing.

Today I put the door trim back on the NSR S70 door after changing the lock (the old one had seized). A couple of days ago I changed the thermostat as it had shown signs of starting to stick again - the old one had lasted since I swapped it 16 years ago. I have also ordered some new wheel centre caps as one of the originals has completely lost its Volvo writing and the others are bubbling a bit.

Sometimes it's the small jobs that gives the greatest pleasure...

I ordered a new headlamp wiper arm knowing fine well there was a pattern change and it may not fit into the outer cover. I tried the cover and sure enough the new arm was a different angle to the original so I had to strip all the parts from both arms and swap the new parts onto the original arm

I also repaired the split cover for the battery + terminal and refitted it
