Yes, but....
Needs to be a model very close to yours in terms of age / style

I fitted a 2005 XC70 HU-850 to my 2006 V70 and everything worked as it should

Has anyone succesfully replaced the HU850 with a double din cd /radio that actually fits without having to resort to bodging the thing in to place.

I am fed up with the HU850 in my S60 and want to change it but not found anything that looks like it will fit. Any suggestions?

Default 2002 into 2005...??

My HU-850 in my 2005 V70 has gone wrong too

I have an HU-850 from my old 2002 V70 and it works perfectly

Other than the cup holder seemingly being built in (or is it just a surround/fascia) does anyone know if the 2002 HU-850 will plug into a 2005....and work!!

And does it need to be 'coded' to its new chassis??

Just wanted to report on another HU850 fault, developed the notorious popping and clicking. 2006 S60 D5.

I removed the head unit (remove gearstick shroud, two hex bolts at bottom, remove whole centre console unit, and peel back the layers until you've got the head unit out).

Dismantled the head unit (Many, many screws of differing lengths, although easy to identify where long screws belonged - anywhere you're bolting a transistor or amp IC to the chassis).

Reflowed the solder with nice leaded stuff and plenty of flux on all the heat-sunk transistors (4x or 5x of them on the main PCB), and every pin of the power amp IC on the separate plug in PCB.

Reassembled the whole kit and kaboodle and touch wood, two medium-long journeys completed without the slightest hint of an issue.

Might be my imagination but sounds better too.

I think it's just the repeat expansion and contraction over time eminating from the various transistors and power amp IC which crack the solder joints.

They looked fine to the naked eye, mind. Hence re-flowing all of them.

It’s cheaper to buy one on ebay.

See this thread for pics and help?

The affected area of the board is next to the tuner can & the parts I suspect are Q938/Q939 and IC945 (D1760Q transistors and an ST LF33A 3.3v regulator respectively, all in a DPAK package).

These parts are available cheaply off ebay & even with my inappropriate soldering gear I hope to make a repair.

Even if you can't/wont go into the stereo yourself, at least you could advise any repairer what the problem is likely to be.

I’m having the same problem, just wondering if the above fixed it for you when you were finished, cheers in advance for any advice you can give me, thanks

I have fixed a date for repair of my HU850 at Central Services (Dave) who is retiring at the end of the month (May 2021) and so this facility will no longer be available!! I trust someone knows of another repairer in the UK?? Many thanks for the link to Central Services.
