That means I have to leave the house, disconnect, then I can use my phone to start from inside the house.
Doesn't seem very practical to me.
Software, I'm told' was updated in October this year.
What am I doing wrong ?
Any ideas ?
Assuming you have the aux heater:

Ah Ha ! mea culpa - I was referring to the Remote Engine Start (ERS) which I activate using my iPhone - but can only do this if the car is disconnected from the charger. This facility warms up the car, defrosts the glass and heats the steering wheel (and probably the seats, too).
Can't get true benefit if I have to brave the ice & snow to disconnect the car first.
Thoughts anyone ? Am I missing something ?
Cheers, Dave

Any kind of engine start involving fuel (engine or aux heater) doesn't fit too well with being connected to mains electricity, so I believe in the manual it says those things wont work when charging.

So you want to use ERS instead of pre-conditioning as it will also turn on the steering wheel and seat heaters?

I've only used pre-conditioning in these circumstances. In fact I'm not sure I've ever used ERS (does the engine actually get started in a T8?)

I have found that although pre-conditioning does clear the front windscreen, often the rear screen is still misted, which is a mild pain - especially as I'm usually reversing off the drive.

I don't personally find a lack of seat/wheel heating to be an issue, as they warm up pretty quickly. It would be nice to have the option though, especially if it would clear the rear screen as well...

To be clear the model i have is an XC60 R-Design.

Edit - Just spoke to a dealer and they said "My car isn't fitted with a Parking Climate option". I didn't realise that it was an added extra

I was told the same.
I feel conned, mis-sold and disappointed 😔
