So it's only the Cd variant you were referring to as being rare then?

You can pick a reasonable fwd 70R up for well under 2k, providing it's not a chronically overrated Saffron version. Petrol turbo all the way imo..

I’d love an R but I thought they were going up in value so sort of discounted them as my budget is around £1500-£2000. Maybe I should include an R to my search then. Thanks

Yes, they've been selling in the £1500 - 2k range recently for examples that need a little tlc. I paid £1300 for mine just under 3 years back with 152k on the clock. I did need to spend circa similar money on ironing all the bugs out etc. I've still got it and it stands me about 4k, though I shall run it as a second car until it drops to bits...

Silver ones appear to be the least desirable and thus cheapest in my observations.

Thanks 'amazondean' - I had been trying to find out without any real success what the 'CD' stood for in relation to my previous posts regarding the purchase of my new relatively low 88K mile '98 V70 T5 Auto 'toy'. I was aware it had a lot of extras but, now I know it was a bargain. I find the only strange thing is that it doesn't have are side roof bars or back wheel arch mudflaps.

Cheers,

Bob

It’s funny really, as most of these cars don’t seem to have rear mud flaps, yet they wouldn’t have been much of an extra. Having the roof bars missing is less common.

Your log book usually shows whether your car is the CD version, although any model can have the extras that are usually associated with the CD model.

Thanks. I got the new V5C from the DVLA yesterday and it does say 'CD'. Guess for some reason as it has got one of those 'plug in' tow hooks that the original owner didn't think a roof rack was necessary in central London.

Cheers, Bob

We used to have a petrol V70 Classic with the 2.5 5 cyl 170 bhp engine, which was superb. Very smooth with plenty of power for motorway cruising, but still managing over 30 mpg on a run

Spec wise it had everything we needed, inc cruise, leather, decent stereo etc. It was a run out model before the P2 was introduced so had a higher spec for the same price than a regular SE model.

Other than needing a new MAF sensor it proved to be very reliable over the 100k miles we had it.

Hope you find a good one whichever you choose, but definitely don’t discount a ‘Classic’.

Well I got myself a 2.5 20V Auto in the end. I will get some more pictures up over the coming days, there are some areas that need addressing to the paint but mechanically it has been very well looked after with services and oil changes carried out meticulously every year from new to approx 2016.
There is also a receipt for ETM replacement from Volvo so one less thing to go wrong.
It has black half leather, AC, cruise,CL, EW, the stereo sounds good, I’m not sure it’s the all singing Dolby one though. It has bass/treble and fade sliders?
I’m actually impressed with the power, I had a V70XC 2.4T 193bhp a few years back and this doesn’t feel much behind in comparison.
Happy to be back in another V70 :-)

P.S the arm rest leather has peeled off, I’m guessing this is common. Any thoughts on best repair? Or can these be bought.
Thanks

You can buy these second hand, no problem.
