Car park tyre skipping can be bushes definitely. Hardened or even new PU bushes can do it when cold because they are not compliant enough. My suspension is very overhauled and does it.
My top mounts where so shot they hit the bonnet, so its very possible for them to become detached. The 300 series bearing seat cracks out and the top moves around, leading to different steering wheel positions, don't think this happens on the 900. Steering wheel can give out a crack, considered 'normal' and acceptable. Inner bushes and spaceship outers very likely to need replaced, especially if not tightened on the ground. Radius arm rear bushes seem to last indefinately. |

If you look at Pg4 onwards of this pdf, you should be able to work it out :
http://www.myvolvolibrary.info/Tech_...DataPocket.pdf From the chassis number, it looks like you have a 1997 945 with a B230FK engine and M90 gearbox, however they changed the chassis code from 96 on and i'm a bit lost on which numbers you have there as it's not showing very well on my monitor.

As you've discovered, the USA numbers often correspond to something different!
There doesn't actually seem to be any indication of where to find the make of rack fitted to post-95 cars, sort of suggests it was the same rack regardless. A phone call to your local Volvo main dealer might clear things up, they could almost certainly tell you if there was just one type of rack fitted to post 95 cars, like i linked to before, there is a 1997 940 being broken, i belive the rack is still available and as the rack has to come off to replace the inner track rods (ideally, can be done on some cars in situ but easier off the car), if it's coming off, it's just as easy to fit a replacement. In case you've lost/can't find that link, here it is again : https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showt...54#post2476854 If Volvo confirm that from 96 on the racks are the same you're laughing, it's the same year as yours anyway so there's a very high chance it will be the same as yours. Could save a lot of head-scratching, heart-searching and wallet-moth eviction to search for funds to by just the new parts to repair your old rack. Once you're mobile again, you can then strip your old rack down at your leisure, evaluate whether it's worth fixing, if so find the bits, rebuild it and seal up the fluid ports to prevent dust/dirt getting in and store it until needed.
