People have spoken of the "plastic air filter box" - what is that? Well, it does sound like a box made of plastic used as an air filter - but is it something you buy with SU HS6 mountings on it?

Pete

I made my brackets from a perforated strip that comes in some LPG kits and welded the studs in the save the risk of them freeing off and dropping down the carb!

The cable tie on the fuel pipe is poor practice and not doing anything.

It would not leave my workshop like that. Put a propper hose clip on there

Thanks,

Will definitely change the cable tie for a metal clip.

The first version at the pic Dai dI'd post is the best of all.
And still the 4-2-1 exhaust system. Not the 4-1 like at your car.

The mechanics that did seen the zip ties are young or bored of old cars or both?

Nothing is even better than zip ties.

Perfect you did it with jubilee clips immediately

Best ones are this type
https://shop.aseriesspares.co.uk/sho...el-hose-clips/

I don't remember the right diameter, sorry.

Good luck, Kay

They were pretty tiny jubilee clips.

Thanks classic swede,

Is there a specific name for the filter box, I cannot seem to find it using Google?

Is the point of the pipe to get cold air? I presume the air around the engine is warm. Does that make a huge difference?

Thanks everyone for your help.

Cheers

Pete

It would be interesting to understand more the benefits of changing to the plastic tube air filter from that of the Volvo "three screw" cartridge filter units.
