Default Faulty EGR symptoms

Hello,
Recently car has been sounding rough and grumbly, especially after start up but otherwise running ok. On long journeys the cooling fans are kicking in and staying on briefly after switch off.
I've done the throttle body, no change.
Do these sound like EGR symptoms ?
Thanks

A rough idle is a possible sign of EGR failure. Mine progressed from that to lack of power and anti-skid service messages on the dash.

A scan with VIDA would confirm.

I blanked mine and all was fine after. I had issues with mis-starts and black smoking under acceleration. I bought a blanking plate off the net and all those issues stopped. It depends on how your EGR has failed, mine was siezed open.

Would you have any codes if the eml hasn't come on? Admittedly my egr is blanked and unplugged but still shows a code on my reader although no dash light so suppose possible

Car booked in garage for later in the week.
Update. Engine service system required light came on today.
Very slow acceleration, loss of power going uphill, cruise control not working.
Thinking gas pedal sensor now, would it explain over heating or grumbling engine tone though.
Also, interior lights are flickering at start up and rear number plate bulbs out.
Any thoughts appreciated

Default Power stutter

My S40 2.0D powershift has recently developed similar faults! Starts fine in the morning and drives fine for 8-10 miles and then stutters for around 5 miles. It then drives fine for the rest of the day. It’s so frustrating pretty much breaking down every day on the way to work! Endless possibilities of what could be wrong. I’m going to change the fuel filter and block off the EGR to rule out the cheap fixes first.
