Unhappy V90 Self Parking

My 2018 V90 Pro CC T6 has a parallel & perpendicular parking function which operates successfully if the system is asked to identify a single parking space where all others are occupied. If, however, the wanted space is located between two other occupied spaces and then another unoccupied one, the system seems to become confused, and either will lock onto the unwanted space, or not identify a space at all. Has anyone had the same problem - is there any solution?? I think this may be related to the distance the car needs to travel past the wanted space before it ‘locks’ onto the space??

Much easier and quicker to park the car yourself, I tried this self parking when I first got my car and never used it again, what a faff about. Other drivers need to be very patient as they wait to get past when you use this gimmick.
Probably the most useless feature on the car. Or can anyone think of anything else that is as useless.

I have Park Assist (paid through the nose for it as it was the only way of getting legit front sensors which are necessary on the S90) and haven't used it nor would I as my experience of these things from Mercedes is that they only properly work intermittently and, anyway, it is much quicker doing it yourself. Like many of these modern 'enhancements' they are a waste of space and money.

Also make sure you avoid white cars. Mine seems blind to any car in white and will make a fine attempt of parking on top of them...
