Yep, defo worth investigating if it wasnt done before. Good thing is, your car is FL with modified PCV version so its much less likely happening than on pre FL original part.

btw - are you aware of other weak point of our car? (plastic T-junction on upper radiator hose?)

Nope, what other weak points?

Yeh would be good to know all, tbh I bought mine at 45k and its on 112k now so im guessing any potential things like this havent been done so if they are faults I will probably pick these parts up asap to get them done

The "abc checklist" of T5, as I call it for me is:
- PVC issue (already known)
- upper radiator hose (plastic T-connector knee can and often do fail as its the weakest point of whole hose. if that happens, you loose all coolant almost immediately and our cars, not equipped with coolant warning, will boil engine to seize if not spotted immediately). More prone to go on AT cars, from what I noticed
- alternator (FoMoCo part, often goes belly up, creating all evil electroinic issues and draining battery and we all know good battery on P1 is critical)
- battery (as above)
- sunroof drains clogging(if equipped)
- obviously, T-belt and aux belts with all pulleys but thats a given in ase of any car

There are more things Im sure but those are kinda of "check them or hell goes loose" for me, other things like sensors and parts are not as critical as wont cause such damage.
Myself, with PVC and alternator+battery done by PO, took care of rest. The radiator hose was OK and didnt look worn, but for the cost of 30e and peace of mind, I went ahead with replacement. No sunroof, so atleast that is off the hook :P

Speaking as someone who's had the alternator go titsup, mug your local volvo dealer a bit,
i got a brand new Volvo 170a alternator off mine for £380 all inc, to replace the Failed "FoMoCo" thing that had done 125K, (so fair play to it) , found it Cheaper than 3rd party ones at the time,
half an afternoons job to swap it,

oh and the battery i found Cheaper @ volvo for the perfect one compared to a "90% nearly" from 3rd parties .

PO of my car had recon alternator fitted. It was a swap old&get reconditioned + pay something up. I think, with warranty on it etc, from a garage specialising in it.
Funny thing is - local volvo service manager said "it will cost you 700+ to have it done here, have a look in reconditioned units..."

your braver than me asking a main dealer for a Quote inc fitting !
the volvo one is an exchange unit, take the old one back when fitted.
honestly its a 2-3 hour job start to finish with tools cleaned & put away With two mugs of coffee while doing, id expect a main dealer would have it done a lot faster with ramps and knowing the job.

I may have a PCV issue I fear...

I noticed an occasional whistle when pushing on in my T5 a few weeks back, and there's a bit of suction noticeable when opening the oil filler cap with engine running on my 2010 C30 T5... Got it booked in next week to see if the diaphragm of the PCV/oil filter housing is goosed but will have a careful check over of the pipes this weekend just in case anything is loose or split. No other funny noises or performance issues... will update when I fund out more!

Wait, is a suction not a desireable thing? I thought you have a problem when dipstick is pulled out and it steams OUT or if you put a glove onto oil cap and it starts blowing it up?...

Been advised it's the older T5s that inflate a glove, and that on these when the PCV is going there's a vacuum going on, the opposite of what would happen on say an 1990s 850 T5...
