This might help a little bit I have an 850 r with an immobiliser and factory fitted alarm. It does not have an immobiliser in the key so if you don't put the alarm on it you can start it up with anything as long as the key fits.

I had the factory system removed and had a Clifford concept 650 fitted which in my opinion is one of the best alarms around it can have anti hijack fitted and lots of other options.

if you like your car and want to keep it I definitely go for one of these fitted by A reputable alarm company.

the good thing about them is if it's in hijack mode and somebody steals your keys the engine will turn off if they don't put a PIN number in

Default Looking for a decent aftermarket alarm / immobiliser....

I'd suggest you consider a Hawk alarm: www.hawkcaralarms.com

I fitted a new Hawk central locking control box to our S70 many years ago, when the original Volvo unit packed up. The Hawk system has been 100% perfect since.
