If you're going to lay the wheels up for a while, use either a heavier or multiple coats of wax before the lay-up to give them extra protection from condensation and other horrors.

I might have my terminology arse about face, but, re the paint &c. I would give it as long as possible before doing anything so violent as tyre fitting ... especially after so much careful work.
There will be recommended drying times and such like, but. to be realistic ..... ? Comrade Stephen Edwin . |

The recommended hardening times for both the primer and paint products were 24 hours, which are up now. I take your point, the longer the curing time the better, but only up to a point I think. I'm planning to get some tyres fitted this week, so that would have been 5 or 6 days since the top coats were applied. Alan

When are ambient temperatures likely to get down to winter tyre fitting time? I don't know. In your shoes, me myself, would aim to delay tyre fitting until then. And then, you are not under pressure to have the winter tyres on the 244. You have winter tyres on anther car. Give the paint all the time that can be found. Have respect for yourself, for the work that you have done. Comrade Stephen Edwin . Last edited by Stephen Edwin; Nov 22nd, 2020 at 17:05. |

Pholus Wheels (continued)
... what a coincidence, the first frost of the year was last night.
I've arranged for some winter boots to be fitted to the Pholus wheels on Wednesday :-)

I think you've done a great job Alan, they look very smart and really suit the car. Yes winter tyres will definitely come in handy for them, I really must sort out some for my 940.
