D4 Auto gearbox revs too high when cold
Hi. When the engine is cold, the gearbox will not change up beyond 3rd.
To achieve 30 MPH, the engine is close to 3000 RPM, which cannot be good for the engine. Please advise if this is normal ? |

How long has it been like this? Have you tried it in manual mode?
When the temperature is low the car does hold the gears longer so the motor warms up quicker. I have a D4 V60 Cross Country and my motor holds the gears longer when it’s cold but not as high as that as far as I’m aware. TT

Also reset the transmission adaptions (VIDA required).

Thanks for the feedback. Waiting for a seatbelt recall fix at local dealership. Will ask them to look into the issue at same time.

It's normal for the engine to rev significantly higher when cold and is designed behavior. When cold the gearbox shift points are raised and torque converter lockup disabled - this so the engine revs higher so the engine and gearbox fluid reach operating temperature range as quickly as possible.
If it drives normally when you start to get hot air through the heater - I don't think you have anything to worry about.
