The headlamp pattern should be adjusted if the active main beam has adaptive functionality. The car must be stationary and be running when the headlamp pattern is changed between right and left-hand traffic. Press Settings in the top view in the centre display. Press My CarLights and LightingExterior Lights. Select Temporary Right Hand Traffic/Temporary Left Hand Traffic. If you do not have that option in your car, there is no adjustment needed for when you drive on the left-hand side, as the lights will automatically adapt
Did Volvo tell you the bit in bold as well?

Hopefully I'll be able to find out for myself this summer (MY2019 Inscription Pro with active shadow and no setting in Sensus) -- I will report my findings!

No i dont have more information. Unfortunately I havent asked them, i hope soon i will go to right hand traffic country to check it. Only what i think is intelisafe system recognize on which side oncoming traffic is. Or more that i believe is Maps and gps are giving the info to car that car is in the country that required headlights to adapt.
But i will ask Volvo for explanation and if they give me the answer i will paste it here

I spoke with one of customer service representative and this is what he replay:

I believe the lights adapt based on the steering of the car, so the car will know whether you are driving on the right or the left

All of our cars from Model Year 2018 do not require manual adaptation for the headlights.

i asked this of Volvo customer services and was told that unless the car has the option to adjust in the menu's then the beam pattern was flat enough to not require any adjustment. It has been in France for several holidays since then (though none recently!) and never appeared to be a problem - nor have i been flashed by approaching drivers etc. so i have to *assume* its ok.

I also had a similar response from Volvo customer relations re. adaptive shadow headlights, their response was, "I can confirm that your headlights will not require adjustment"

I have a 2018 V90 D4 with standard auto high-beam LED headlamps (not active shadow etc). I, too, was told by Volvo that the dipped beam was flat and required no adjustment for European driving (and that no adjustment was possible). I had my doubts, but can confirm that, after several extended trips, the lights remain extremely good and seem to cause no problems to other drivers.

Be aware that LED headlamps/lights are also pretty common in Europe and the police are used to them. I think the French police will use their common sense when it comes to non-existent replacement bulbs...

Hope that helps reassure.
