Well I would put it back to as original as possible myself.

That's my plan. Might have to buy the stay at a later date due to money.
So you reckon the silicone vacuum pipe will be a good replacement to the original rigid plastic pipe. Photo attached of what happened to the original. It's collapsed on itself. I don't know if that's heat or its been crushed. I'm not even sure if it's routed correctly. It was going over the engine. I think it's supposed to be around the side and over the gearbox Last edited by currymunster; May 4th, 2021 at 19:49. Reason: Forgot photo..... |

Parts list from VIDA (MY 2005)
turbo vacuum parts.jpg Looks like the route is over the gearbox. Also that hose is called a pipe - so is it a hose or rigid pipe? Good luck.

Bearing in mind most hoses are designed to cope with internal pressure, I'd def go for the orig Volvo ones. You are extremely unlikely to be able to replicate from the likes of fleabay and it's such a joyous task to have to do numerous times...

I've just put my vacuum tester on the wastegate actuator.
The arm has full movement but only hold for about 12 seconds Until it slowly comes back out again. Is this right or do I need to source a new one? I can do a video call if anyone wants to see it Thanks |

That is probably OK. Remember, when the engine is running the vacuum is constantly renewed.
But why not swap it whilst you can?

I called in a favour from a garage friend of mine. He checked it. It's fine and hold vacuum. Turns out my new vacuum tester is faulty. Got most of it back together now. I noticed the charge pipe coming off the turbo has a white layer inside that had all come loose. Delamination. I suppose it could have ended up in the intercooler.....I hope not....... |
