Does the XC90 T8 have artificial engine noise?

Does the T8 have artificial engine noise, or is it the supercharger that gives it a bit of a growling sound over the other engines?

Just sounds a bit too much v6-like to be the engine...

No, it doesn’t. It really does sound that nasty.

There’s an audible whine from the supercharger. When it’s on.

I noticed recently the engine a bit noisier, or rougher sounding, when I had to put in a tank of 95 Ron instead of the usual 99.

But no the engine noise is a bit of a non-event. Probably deliberately. So not sure what you mean re a V6..?

I was out in a mates v6 petrol SQ5 on the weekend. Even that you’re hearing more exhaust than engine. Didn’t feel as quick as mine though. Despite the noise.

Ok. Had a T5 s60 engine and just made a normal dull 4 cyl engine noise.

The T8 is the same engine with the only difference the supercharger. It’s just growls more. Ok, it’s not a V6, but it has some “throat” to it. Maybe the engine is goosed already

maybe because I’ve only really heard it when cold so far.

I think the T8 engine is quite growly too...not too bad a note for an in line 4.

Hmmm....so it’s not just me then. We’ve both got MY21.5’s. Which is why I wondered if they’re putting something through the speakers on the latest models. Being Volvo, I just can’t see it....
