How much do we realisticly think its worth then? Its exactly what Im looking for, but id only want to pay £600 odd for it.

740 Turbo manuals are desirable, but are auto's as desirable? I dont think so personally.

Not wishing to cause offense, this is purely my opinion

He doesn't reveal the mileage either - wonder why?

As to value; well, if a dealer had this up at £1,550 we'd all think:

"OK, dealer's got to make a profit, got to warrant the vehicle for 6 months; hmm, yes, maybe that's a fair price!"

But a privateer? Grand, tops (depending on the mileage, of course; mustn't be too high OR too low).

Actually Citizen Agfa while you cannot attach a restrictive covenant to personal property, you can make a contract governing its use and there would be drafting methods of, for the most part, making such governance stick. It might well, however, inhibit the sale!

I saw this car on the bay...and I recall the mileage being circa 130k.

The problem is the seller has a value in his head, he's not had the car long, probably bought low and wants a profit(no harm in that).

Unfortunately lovely 740s aren't commanding anything like the money they should and that applies to this car.

I've just taken a look at Volvo's own consumption figures, published in a separate leaflet and included in the the owner's pack (I've only got the one from 1986, the 760 turbo estate auto is similiar mechanically), states 28.2 mpg at 75mph and 35.5 at 56mph!

Which wasn't bad with fuel prices at 1986 levels!

So an average maybe of around 25mpg - 30mpg max?

Who on earth would spec a new car with gold on beige?

If it was any other colour than that, with grey/black leather, then yes I would say its worth around the £1500 mark. I paid £1600 for one a couple of months ago in fact. But with that combo, I would aim for £1100-1200.

But this is only my opinion, good luck with the sale.

This Is A Very Fine Example For Its Year, and a great credit to its previous owner,
I would add that it must be seen, even though the pictures say it all.
Its a Low Mileage vehicle as Volvo's go, with only 130,290 miles on the clock
Only 1 previous owner, .... I myself have only owned the vehicle for the last five months,
The only reason Im selling it, is because the wife doesnt like it, Come on I've got to keep the misses HAPPY ..... So Im looking for a Peugeot Estate instead.

This Volve 740 Turbo intercooler Estate drives very well and is very smooth in its drive, everything works, switches & Gauges sunroof tilt slide everything works to the guide lines in the manufactures owners manual,
I've lots of invoices for works that have been done thoughout its years.

I'm asking £1,250 OVNO and I'll gladly add the car phone as free all you have to do is put your own sim into it ....
Please ... ! No tyre kickers .... No time wasters
This really is a lovely car and hand on Heart I know who ever buys this car will clearly see that everything I have written here is the truth. Its a lot of car, for a very reasonable price .... who ever buys this vehicle, I know will be very happy because, it will go on to do, in the region of 500,000 miles plus if mantained like it has been ....

Thank you for taking the time to read over my add .... any questions feel free to give me a call on 0208 361 1091 or 07956 517580 and ask for Neil

Or, conversely, he paid over the odds and now needs to get his money back; just a thought, happened to me before now.
