Not sure how it works in the UK but handovers are procedures well documented by Volvo and European dealers need to have a customer sign off at the end.

They have a checklist that they have to comply and the customer has to sign the checklist document that states that the vendor:
-instructed you on the car generic functionalities
-instructed you on the infotaimenet
-instructed you how to configure the car
-instructed you how the external features work
-gave you an overview of the engine
-instructed you how the internal features work
-instructed you how the volvo additional car services work
-informed you regarding the planned maitenances
-and a few other things i dont remember

I had to confirm all the above and sign it. Apparently they send the signed checklist to Volvo.
But again, I have no clue how Volvo UK works.

true, but I guess it depends on the client's will I've just asked to plug-in my phone into CarPlay and then I was good to go.
