Question Am I being fussy? Some faults on new car.

I’ve bought an xc90 on Tuesday, from a small dealer in Fareham, I paid £4500 for an 04 99k silver xc90, outside it looks lovely I must say for a 14 year old car it’s mint. I took it for a long test drive, drove nice, I couldn’t fault it & paid, £1000 cash & settled £3500 finance.
Got it home & showed my dad, he’s a diesel filter by trade & as soon as I pull up he says, well there’s a turbo pipe off somewhere!
Later diagnosed as either a pipe off or a split or a split intercooler.
Called the dealer & he’s reluctantly agreed to repair the intercooler although it’s not covered. Lol.
Since Tuesday I’ve now only done about 80 miles & ive found more faults, but am I being picky?

Alarm service required- new siren needed £160
CD player broken
Rear sensors worked when I got it, now they stay on
Clunky on steering, pas/rack? Topped up low fluid but still does a noise
Spare key fob works but doesn’t lock, unlock, I’ve replaced the battery

So my question is, am I being fussy? I’m in for a right battle to get these all repaired as I’ve looked up most faults on here & they are not cheap fixes?

If you bought from a dealer then you have the protection of the consumer rights act section 22 and section 23. You can reject the car if its not fit for purpose or give the dealer one chance to repair

Section 22 Click

Section 23 Click

From the list of faults you gave, I'd say take it back and get a full refund

Yup, I would be doing that although I am assuming a £4k XC90 is always going to be a slightly older more tired example and running costs are always going to be steep!

I was in a similar situation a few weeks ago. Bought the car and checked it over when I got it home. There was a long list of faults and they were reported 2 days after my purchase. I was told to return the car on 27th December for repairs and never saw it again for 16 days. I wasn't happy and thought I was going to loose my 30 days Consumer Rights, but spoke to my lawyer and it turns out that the clock stops ticking when you report the faults. As I had reported 2 days after purchasing I still had 28 days left to reject the car once returned to me. Hope you manage to resolve the situation

I accept running costs, it’ll need new tyres on the rear soon, that’s fine with me, also front pads & discs “only” have 5000 miles on them (they’ll last me a year!)

But I consider reversing sensors an important part on a car sale as spending £160 on a new alarm siren.
The CD player I can live without as I’ll probably get a BT module wired in for my iPhone at some stage.

So now you know why the previous owner traded it in.
The stealer will say, its a 13 year old car, not a new one, etc.
Its highly unlikely that he knew about the alleged faults, after all hes not looking for them, hes not a mechanic, hes not interested, he is very good at polishing cars and inflating the price, and flogging them to mugs and other punters.
Y gotta be a mug to pay over 4grand for a 13 year old banger off some stealer.

So what to do about it ? See a solicitor quick (or CAB) before Rejecting the car, it has to be done correctly, and the stealer will argue, hanging on to both your car and the money, for a while youll have nothing. Not my first choice.

First, ask him to fix everything. If he gets clever etc, go get legal advice. You may well get free advice from CAB, solicitor, AA, RAC, some legal extra on an insurance policy, a trade union if yr a member, etc.

IF you paid any of the price on credit card talk to them about ALL the money back.
