Default Fuel services, any experiences?

Has anyone had a fuel service, such as this provided by Halfords for £35?

https://www.halfordsautocentres.com/...e/fuel-service

"Our fuel system cleaning service improves fuel efficiency and reduces emissions. This means great cost savings in the long run - and a cleaner, greener car!
We use a special non-invasive procedure to clean inside the engine and remove nasty contaminants from your fuel system. You'll notice the difference after a short drive.
Our technicians will also check other components to improve your fuel efficiency, including tyre pressure, brakes and clutch system.
Book a fuel system clean online to see the benefits for yourself."

"Over time, carbon and other contaminants will build up in your engine. Without proper cleaning, the fuel system can become clogged which leads to poor acceleration, reduced power and engine problems.
Our Fuel Service cleans these contaminants out of the engine and fuel system, so your car burns fuel more efficiently. It's one of the best ways to improve fuel consumption."

I presume they don't flush the whole fuel system, but there is no mention of what happens to the fuel in the car or whether or not they drain and replace (which I doubt from the price). So is it just put in an additive and run the car for a while?

Buy some snake oil, it's cheaper and more effective

I'm tempted to ask them how they intend to get their snake oil into my LPG tank to ensure they clean the whole fuel system.

Is that just opinion, or do you know what the actual service entails and if there is a known proven benefit?

Used to know someone that worked at Halfrauds, he said they were ripping of people all the time. People would pay the extra for premium oil but it all came out of the same drum.

He had many stories, too much to go in to, your choice.

Complete and utter twaddle. I can't believe they can make these outrageous claims. I like the "engine problems" bit - haha - how ambiguous can you get?

The only thing that can be cleaned with an additive are the injectors IF they have any gumming affecting spray pattern.
Any contaminates should be delt with by the water trap or fuel filter.

Maybe twice a year, I use a Lucas fuel treatment to ensure the Volvo's injectors stay clean, I use 2T oil to dose the landrover regularly.

Both cars pass the fast test at MOT time.

Paul.

Sounds like Halfords are doing their own Terraclean.

Letting them loose at a job like that would be more "terror" than "terra"!

You should only use Halfords if you require a new pushbike. Even then they'd be a last resort.

They are serial destroyers of cars
