Lightbulb Extra handbrake switch

Has anyone fitted another handbrake switch in a better place? (I get fed up of leaning forward in traffic) Was thinking of putting one next to gear lever, but wasn’t sure if it could be done, what type of switch to buy, will it throw up a fault? Was thinking of tapping wires off back of switch to new switch.... stupid idea? I look forward to your comments....

I also have been thinking about this. I thought that it would be very useful to duplicate just the EPB "on" function as the system automatically takes off the brake when you drive away. My thought was that I have a couple of spare button positions on the central console which fall easily to hand. I assume that the switch is merely a "bell push" sending a single signal to the EPB module and that it would be easy to tap into the wire that sends the signal and the return and use a non latching volvo switch in one of these spare slots. I did something similar on a Peugeot 406 V6 Coupe where I paralleled the transmission sports mode control to a bell push switch on the foot rest and that worked for 10 years. I'd expect the EPB to be similar but I haven't yet built up the courage to try doing the mod!

Thinking out loud, what about when you pushed the auto stick forward into neutral it put the handbrake on and still have a switch to deactivate when needed.

Mmm maybe not!!!

Was thinking something like this to the right of the gear lever.... 12mm hole, sits flush, 15mm wide, enough room underneath for it to sit there.... also can be illuminated.... mmmm red or blue?

Just picked up a manual V70 rdesign.

This will be happening as soon as I confirm wiring and decide which switch and where to put it.

“How to” will follow 👍

Terry.
