I have a friend that provides me with the edge professional same oil at the same price (only different between the two oils is that the edge professional has a ultraviolet pigmentation for security check). askim98 |

Funnily enough Castrol recommend Castrol EDGE 0W-30 A5/B5. Magnetec is 5W-30 (which is what the manual states in big stickers etc. but in the handbook allows for the 0W-30 to be used in "adverse conditions" although the Edge is a better oil as a whole), differences well 'mag is quite a "low grade" fully synth against Edge. |

depends on engine if it is a 4 cylinder engine for example the 1.6D/D2 then 5W-30 it is for all, if it is 5 cylinder then it is 0W-30 Edge because of the nature of longer term intervals (18K not 12.5K like in 4 cylinder, the 2.0D was the oddity as it could use 5W-30 OR 0W-30)

Quick question - when my next service is due (currently on 65,000 miles so should be due in summer) I intend to use an independent Volvo specialist - rather than main dealer. Do you guys insist on or supply a particular oil to be used or rely on the garage to make the decision ?
Additionally has anyone any experience of using this garage ? http://www.dukestreetgarage-oldham.co.uk/ Haydn |
