Default Hunter wheel aliment- any good ?

Hi all,

2009 2.0D, 68,000m. Since new I've had various issues with inner tyre wear mainly on the front nearside. Never anything major, but enough to rub the inner edge off resulting in a change poss 1000 miles or so before you normally would. I've always had the ' hang the alignment thingy on the front wheels' with the laser light to the rear wheels determining if it needs adjusting, each time they do something and each time there's still inner wear to some degree.

So my question is this. Firstly, can they adjust the rear wheels and secondly is the Hunter wheel alignment worth it ? Never had a Hunter alignment before but from what I've read it the dogs do dars,,,,,

Cheers,
Andy

PS - yes I know I've spelt alignment wrong in the header !

Inner front tyre wear on these cars is amost always accompanied by low tyre pressures in my experience , try running them at 38 psi ( Assuming wheel alignment is ok ) Regarding wheel alignment yes the rear is adjustable , any 4 wheel alignment machine with sensors on each wheel is as good as the next , It is the OPERATOR who you need to choose rather than the machine :-) and make sure they use volvo's latest figures in their database , volvo do change them from time to time ...
Volvo recommend their emergency service vehicles are aligned every 6 months as they lead a very hard life .

Hunter wheel alignment is the dogs danglies.

It all comes down to the operator being competent too though but you won't get better than Hunter Alignment kit.

Spot on comment!
Some kwik fits have hunter machines but i am not sure how familiar their teams are with this equipment. I usually use black boots/ wheels in motion as car geometry is what they do.
Been to few other places too and in the end always had to go wim.

You dont say what your car is but you might want to get your bushes checked and yes the hunter alignment system is def the dogs b's.
See mine and other peoples comments regarding this in xc90 general and the thread is
"Whats the best tyres to put on an xc90 "(you have to read on a bit but the hunter discussion is contained within that thread.)

Hope this helps.

+1 on the Hunters, it is very accurate and the car will feel really stable when aligned properly:

Thanks for the replys. I'm due a couple of new tyres in the next month so will get this opposed to the usual one, hopefully it'll sort the problem. The only place I know of in Lancaster is kwik Fit and their just about price matching for the Goodyear Efficient Grip which I'm going to try, they also use the Hunter system.I realise the kits as good as the operator so might give them ago

Just one more to praise the Hunter's system when I bought my V50 it had very cheap nasty tyres on the front and it didn't feel good cornering on wet roads. Bought two new good quality front tyres and the 4 wheel hunters alinement, driving home it was a different car.
