Winter tyres
1st post alert!
My Osmium Grey XC90 D5 R Design was delivered on Monday and I’m very impressed so far. It is something of a step up from my previous car (Citroën C4 Grand Picasso). The car is leased through Volvo Finance with full maintenance, tyres etc. I suspect I know the answer to this, but was wondering whether or not it is possible to get a set of winter tyres through the lease deal. Over the three year contract, I would have thought that the cost would be more or less neutral for Volvo finance. Given that Volvo pride themselves in the safety of their cars, surely they would be happy for their lease customers to have the most suitable tyres for the prevailing conditions… Has anyone else made this enquiry to their dealer / Volvo Finance? Thanks. |

Not Volvo but I’ve had the conversation with several lease operators over the years and always an emphatic ‘no’

Volvo Car Finance is Lex.
I tried with Lex and got nowhere. I didnt even want winters as a different set. All I wanted was CrossClimates instead of my latitude sport 3s which needed replacing. The retail with KwikFit for CrossClimates was less than the Latitudes. The answer was a flat no and I tried lots of different routes. They will only entertain winter tyres if you pay for the first set.

My XC90 is corporate lease via Lex
there isn't an issue fitting however it would normally be at your own cost. I got my new XC90 in November, fitted winters (using Kwik Fit as previously used them for X5 tyres) and then had immense fun during the winter when we had so much snow - I would say if you have the cash, and the lease is for a few years, its defiantly worth the outlay. |

Best Winter Tyres I have used to date, is Nokian, not on an XC60 though but on a few other vehicles including Vito Sport van, and leave them on all summer.

On my car used to run summers and winter Nokians. When summers were worn left winters on all year. When worn used CrossClimates. Really noticed the difference in the summer. Much much better than leaving the Nokians on. Can't tell you how they were during the winter blizzards etc because we had decamped to South Africa
Would use again without a moments hesitation.

Another vote for Nokians. Have had them on my four XC90’s to date and they’ve been superb. Coped perfectly with the Highland winters as well as being down in Fife during “The Beast from the East” period earlier this year.
