940 Jacking Points
Can anyone give a definitive answer to the location of the jacking points for use with a floor jack on a 940 estate?
Armed with http://www.volvoclub.org.uk/tech/ser...ndHoisting.pdf some common sense, and a piece of timber to spread the load I completed the work I needed to without causing any damage by positioning the jack under some tough-looking parts of the subframe. However, I don't think I can have found the correct rear jacking points since both the Haynes manual and the Volvo handbook have diagrams that appear to refer to part of the vehicle floor rather than the subframe. In order to find part of the subframe clear of the rear trailing arm I ended up positioning the jack a lot further forward than any of these drawings suggest. Google doesn't help, beyond suggesting that I am not the only person to have struggled to interpret the handbook. |

Hi,
There are two points each side and quite obvious as you see the round bar to attach the jack to on all 4. Des. . .

Aren't those the points designed for use with the vehicle jack? All the sources I've found indicate that there are different points designated for a trolley jack or hoist.

Yeah you can hardly use the vehicle jack jacking points when you want to get axle stands underneath!
I just jack it up from the front crossmember and the rear diff, one jacking operation per end and can get the axle stands on the stock jacking points. The places suggested in the link from the OP seem to bend a little when used (not bothered, £400 skid car) |

I just jack it up from the front crossmember and the rear diff, one jacking operation per end and can get the axle stands on the stock jacking points. I use the same method as Munday. Although with the diff.being so far forward I have to wriggle under the car to accurately locate the jack plate and use a short jack lever to start the lift as the longer jack lever fouls the floor pan and spare wheel well. |
