haha i definitely know what you mean. my 760 turbo was an absolute beast on fuel. I never worked it out, but i would guess around ~15 MPG OR LESS, as i used it just around town mainly. brilliant car, but not really practical in this kind of economy. it's the kind of car that you think; "i have to go to the shops, better put another £10 in"

to be honest i would have kept the 760 pretty much forever if it could get around ~25mpg or so average. i'm currently driving a really beaten up 850 T5 (saloon) automatic, which has been really surprisingly good on fuel, I actually managed an impressive 42MPG on a run. obviously on shorter journeys its no where near that, but for a 1997 that looks as beaten up as it does, and cost pennies to buy, i am seriously impressed. and still can keep up with modern sports cars!

my old 760 and current T5!

Good looking car, just need the right buyer to come along. Can't remember the last time I seen another 740 turbo on the road. Re fuel mine isn't too bad, not brilliant bit nowhere near 15mpg that was mentioned previously. 24 years in I can't see me ever selling mine!

I saw the car at RRG. Looked tidy, although the wheels aren't my sort of thing.

I know of someone looking for a 744 Turbo, but he'd want it without the wheels. You'd still have them to sell, to make up the difference. If you'd consider that, I'll put you in touch. If not...good luck with the sale.

Regardless, I think you should seriously consider offering it without the wheels, as it's going to put a lot of people off buying it. It's a lot of extra money, and they won't be to everyone's taste. If it were mine, and I was serious about getting some money back from it, I'd split it from the wheels.

Finally, an 850 shouldn't be a lot more economical than a 7/900. That's certainly been the opposite of my experience, pound for pound (all being manuals - automatic 7/9s will be much worse!). My 744TI (rolled 300bhp) did 25-30mpg on a decent run, which is all my P1 V70R did.

cheers

James

my 850r does 36mpg on a run and the 740t does 23mpg so miles difference, ill be keeping the car now i think and selling my 850r
and i dont have any other wheels for it,
i swear alot of people on here are blind to prefer the standard ugly 1980's wheels over some modern deep dish

It's fuel consumption over the last couple of years has been exemplary!
