Default Cabin fiter flap issue

Hi, I was searching for a rattle in my cars dash and found an unhooked flap arm. Got it back into the motor but i cant get the motor to move in any position of the climate settings.

Is that the motor and arm for the cabin air re-circulation flap? If so it's manually activated/deactivated via its own switch on the climate control panel.

If it not functioning you'll first need to check for any obstruction of the actual flap. Lift the plastic scuttle panel and the flap is just located below the cabin filter. It could be stuck open due to lack of use or build up of detritus.

It might be wise to disconnect the arm again to check the flap is traveling fully in both directions. With the arm disconnected you can check the motor is functioning via the switch.

That rattle happened to my 855 TDI with the key in position "I" and it turned out to be broken cog teeth in the A/C Recirculation motor.

Maybe the part number is the same for your model. See the pics.

Mine has the manual climate control system. The flap moved alright by moving the arm. Im guessing the flap should move as you press the recirculating button? So the car uses the air from the inside? Well it's not doing anything with any of the climate control buttons. My guess, the motor is bad. When the flap arm is connected to the motor it's impossible to move so i thing the cogs are aight. Oh and the rattle turned out to be the ac dryer hitting on something as the ac dryer mount is soft and corroded. Still got many squaks and rattles and as for the motor i think im going to have to remove the whole dash anyway as i think the ac runs empty from the dash radiator (evaporator?).

Mine is also manual. Yes, the flap should move and close, so the air circulates inside the car.

See the pics. Flap underneath the cabin filter closed and open.
