Default Alarm problem / Bonnet open warning

Hi,

I'm having 2 issues of an electrical nature on my 2008 V70 D5 SE LUX:

1. The alarm regularly goes off for no apparent reason. Its annoying me - and driving the neighbors mad too no doubt. Happens whether parked on tarmac or gravel. Have stopped locking it, its got so bad. Not a good option really.

Has anyone experienced similar and can it be cured? e.g. Can the sensitivity of movement sensors be adjusted? - or can the alarm be disabled?

2. Every now and again I get a warning message that my bonnet is open. It isn't - so must be a sensor glitch I assume?

Again - anyone experienced this & is there an easy fix?

Could you have a faulty bonnet switch that's causing the alarm to trigger if it thinks the car is being tampered with? And which also causes the bonnet open warning.

The switch for the bonnet is in the left hand lock try shutting the bonnet a bit harder if the lights are not flashing,
Water can get into the lock/switch in the latch which has caused problems for other cars in the same models.

Unhappy Same Problems 2008 model V70 SE LUX D Auto 2.4cc

I have also been having these problems.. the Bonnet Open mesage started appearing in April and my local dealer techie did something, I think with sticky tape, which made the problem go away. It has now reappeared last month and I am now getting problem with the alarm going off for no apparent reason although if I open and close the bonnet it does seem to stop the alarm most times. The last 2 nights the alarm has gone off for no apparent reason at 2am altough the car has not been used for many hours. As I am in Portugal I wonder if there is an issue with temperature as it is warm during the day but cold, and damp, overnight, so moisture could be playing a part. Have emailed service dept of Dealer in Barnstaple, UK, ande am awaiting their thoughts.
I am linking the two probs as well. Need a fix so I can get some sleep!

The left hand bonnet lock has the switch built into the lock, and water will get in there overtime which causes these faults.
To change the lock is not as easy as you would think front of car has to come off.

Smile Volvo S80 2008 bonnet switch faulty

I was having problems with the bonnet light showing the bonnet was open over the past six months and the alarm frequently going off, It was very difficult to replace the catch without removing the front of the car so I decided to bypass the switch and do without a bonnet light, if you remove the drivers headlight you see the bonnet cable and switch wire on the right side, remove the rubber trunking and connect the two wires together.
