Default bonnet open sensor - where is it?

Hi,
I have a persistent and annoying problem with my 58 plate D5 SE lux. Car information system is telling me on a regular basis that the bonnet is open - when it most definitely isn't. This sometimes (not always) clears by simply opening and then firmly closing the bonnet. It sometimes clears itself without doing this.
An additional issue that may be connected is that the alarm activates regularly - generally in the office car park or outside the house - annoying colleagues and neighbours alike

Can anyone tell me where the sensor is?

I want to check it myself to see if there isn't something obvious (such as it needs cleaning?) before I take it in to the dealer

Anyone else experienced this?

thanks

I'm hopeful someone will know where this sensor is,

I also have a 2008 D5 SE LUX and have the same problem, and given how often the screen wash needs topping up, i'm in the engine bay every few weeks. Once the car has decided the bonnet is closed, i don't get the issue untill the next time i open the bonnet, then it usually needs a rough bit of road, or a speedbump efore the car will recognise that the bonnet is closed.

I've had a good look and can't see the sensor, and assumed it was part of the bonnet catches, which don't look accessable.

The switch is in the right hand bonnet catch and you can see the thin black cable and connector if you look closely in that area . And yes it is very tricky to change , the bumper has to come off and a lot of fiddling with the bowden cable ..

Default Open Bonnet message

I have also had this problem on my 08 V70 with the message on the dash and the alarm going off at any time. The two lock mechanisms are in plain view when you open the bonnet and all that I did was to clean them with a paint brush and petrol, allow them to dry out and all is fine now. You know when things are not right because when you go to alarm the car the lights do not flash. Well worth a try, it worked for me.
