Seeking a clean 940 estate lpt, hpt, turbo
Good day.
I am new to 940s, but seeking a clean 940 estate, preferably not too far from Leeds. If anyone has one, it would be great to hear from you. Thanks in advance Dominic |

I'll be selling my silver '98 940 LPT Torslanda/Celebration estate in a month or so, but I'll be looking for double that because of her condition and mileage.
She's a manual with just over 117k miles up (verified by MoT history) and I've spent a fortune on her when I bought her about 18 months ago - this list is just off the top of my head, all brand new items: - custom 2.5in stainless downpipe £150 - 2.5in stainless freeflow exhaust (Jetex) £400 - 200 cell sports cat £150 - NTK lambda sensor - Bilstein shocks all round - lowered springs all round - Febi engine mounts - Goodyear EfficientGrip Performance tyres x4 - Exide battery - Blaupunkt Stockholm DAB radio with bluetooth phone connection - genuine Volvo drivebelts (all) - genuine radiator hoses - genuine PCV breather kit - genuine thermostat - genuine coolant reservoir (because they age and crack) - Sachs clutch - wind deflectors x4 I also did the usual ignition service, oil flush and change, air filter change etc and its had numerous services since. It drives superbly and has no unusual mechanical or suspension noises and returns around 28mpg in mixed driving (city commuting plus weekend motorway jaunts). I've also made a few mods using secondhand parts: - fitted a genuine tacho with the turbo boost gauge, although I haven't hooked it up to the vacuum outlet yet - fitted a B200FT wastegate actuator (with the exhaust mods I'd guesstimate the output to be circa 180bhp) - genuine dog guard - genuine roller load cover Its obviously in very good condition, and despite the (subtle and factory looking) mods, she isn't ragged - I'm on the wrong side of 50 and I just like 'projects' lol. Having said that, I'm in no rush to sell her as I'm sure I'll hunger for another 940 in a few years time and this is the best one I've had (and I've had lots!) so if I don't get the £2k I'll put her in my sister's barn and store her there for a while TBH the only reason I'm selling her is that I've been tempted by a car on my bucket list - a Range Rover. I've done all the work on the 940 with the intention of her being a long term keeper, but I also have to be honest to myself and realise that I'm going to need some cash to do some of the work on the Rangie! I'm in Doncaster so not too far either lol - but as I said she won't be for sale for a while as I need to commission the Rangie first. Let me know if you're interested. ATB RT

Too late, I bought it a few weeks ago lol. Its a TD though, so its got a BMW 2.5 straight six turbo diesel engine, same as in the X5. Needs some TLC though !
More details on the 940 is here Dominic if you're interested - http://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?t=246281 Cheers RT

I drive a 52 plate Land rover discovery for work...it has the same Td5 engine....the engine is the only part which has not gone wrong!
My mate paid 4.5k for it 2 yrs ago and has probably spent 10k on it since!!! It is hands down one of the worst vehicles I have driven, the lack of steering lock is ridiculous for a vehicle which is used for towing... I wish you the best of luck! |

I have sent you a pm, thank you for the heads up. I think though £2k is a bit out of my range, I could stretch to 1.5k, but if you are not selling for a while, then things may change.
