There is a lot of naming of bad dealers in the Forum, why don't you name this good dealer?

Riverside Volvo, Hull. Always been a pleasure to deal with on my last 3 cars. My brother has got his first Volvo, my ex car, and was really impressed with the service in contrast to his dealings with BMW.

Me: "Yes, it has over 1,000 miles before it runs out of AdBlue, but if you want to top it up while you are checking the oil then that is fine."
Volvo: "There is a £30 charge for AdBlue."
Me: "So you want to charge me an extra £30 for for 500ml of AdBlue, on top of the £280 you are charging me to change the air filter and top up the oil?"
Yes: "It is a £30 charge for AdBlue."
Me: "You must be joking. I will just buy five litres for £5 at Tesco tonight."

When did this sort of unscrupulous behaviour become common business practice by Volvo dealerships?

Who in their right mind would pay £30 for something that costs £5 and can be done even by a child?

What planet are Volvo on?
Dealers are trying to sell, sell, sell, at the moment, but Volvo service prices seem very high. I was recently quoted £550 for a service, ouch. I think the service parts are around £140 so that's £400 labour for something which should take an hour and a half tops.

Didn't think the D4 needs Adblue ? Maybe some models do use it.

Try getting a quote from an independent Volvo garage, as labour rates will be cheaper than a dealership. Going to an independent garage won't affect your warranty either (if you have one), as they use genuine parts.

Volvo dealer servicing has never been cheap but to be a little bit fair to them the costs of running a dealership are high.

As Kev0607 says, using an independent Volvo specialist will be cheaper and won't affect warranty. I would check with the independent that they have access to VIDA otherwise they won't be able to provide Volvo software updates.
