Default V40 D4204T8 Engine oil

Hi,
What is the correct spec oil for D2 diesel cross country.
Engine D4204T8.

My book says castrol v 0w20 or VCC RBS0-2AE 0W20.
Do i have to look for spec like A5/B5. or C 3 some thing like that.
Is there any alternative please which can be bought for euro car parts or eBay.

Or pls let me know below oil is fine

RBS0 2AE Is the spec you need to look for.
It is based on C5 so if no rbs0 2ae is available, this is the backup, but, rbs02ae is available quite widely now so you shouldnt struggle to find it.

Thanks for the reply. Iam going to order the Total oil from eBay. It says in the spec VCC RBS0 2AE.

Volvo asking for 45 for 5 litres. This one is cheaper and Im using total in my XC90 same brand.

Is that Ebay oil ACTUALLY VOLVO VCC RBS0-2AE ? all it says on the bottle is ACEA A1 B1 ?? The specification VOLVO VCC RBS0-2AE must be on the bottle .
Total were the first maker other than Castrol to manufacture this Volvo specification oil 5 years ago , but would only sell it in 205 litre drums .

It is important you use the correct volvo spec oil , if you get an engine problem , high oil consumption perhaps or an EGR problem which has been reported on here or some other problem any warranty or goodwill from volvo which generally is pretty good will be void , they DO take oil samples to analyse ..

£ 45 for 5 litres from volvo is very reasonable considering the retail price is £12.50 per litre + vat ..

When changing your oil put exactly the whole 5 litres in and hope you do not get a high or low oil level message a few days later as the oil level gauge has to be calibrated when you change the oil ...

Greetings ,
Don't take their word for it .. It has to be printed on the bottle to be valid .. In their picture the wrong specification is printed on the bottle ..

You calibrate the oil gauge Via VIDA , the volvo diagnosic system which connects to the car . Only available at an approved volvo workshop .

You are a Star Clan!!!
Will go for Volvo oil.
Will do the Calibration later with my 2014 Vida copy. Is it possible or do I have to go to dealer to calibrate?

According to Total's own website, the TDS for Quartz 9000 V-Drive states that it is specifically for Volvo Drive-E engines, meets VCC RBS0-2AE and has Volvo approval.

Also see this thread - post #16 onwards - re oil changes and measuring the oil level.
