clutch special tool not necessary
After trawling through all the info regarding having to use the special tool for installing a new clutch, i decided to opt for the quarter turn method-[you tube vids] basically when you install the pressure plate you tighten each of the 6 bolts evenly only a quarter of a turn only, it is a lot slower than using the special tool but if you are doing the job for yourself you aren't bothered with dealership time frames for each job, only thing i did was to have a clutch centering tool made from a local engineering shop for £15,anyway after i had a problem with bleeding the clutch, and pedal was about a third down from floor i was wondering if i dropped one but after reverse bleeding i got the full pedal back and clutch is working fine no probs.

your post is missing a bit background info 😁, but i think the special tool is used to hold the self adjusting mechanism in the same place so you can re install the old clutch .. but if your fitting a new one, you dont need the tool anyway thats on a D5 engine with the LUK self adjusting cluch..
