Default 1991 Volvo 240/No start

Ive just spent the last couple hours checking this car out. The car does not turn over. I thought it was a dead battery. Got the battery checked out and it was good. I cleaned off the cables, still no turn over. Have power to the radio and accesories. The original problem with this car was the car cut off and could not be restarted. What could kill the car like this? Seems to be something in the ignition. What is the power flow from the key to the starter? You turn the key nothing, just the lights on the dash come on,No starter turning.I can hear a buzz in the back, fuel pump. But thats it,bad starter? But that would not shut down the engine.

is your car manual or auto ?

If Automatic then it may be worth checking the inhibitor switch as that's a common non starter fault. You could also get a bit of wire stick it to the positive side of the battery and the take to the starter solenoid and get a friend to see if it then starts.

Check the main power feed to the starter and the pre engange solenoid starter wire., The thin one. This should go to 12v went the ignition key is in the start position. If it does and there is main power at the starter it suggest the starter is U/S. Regards Peter
