Default V70 wrong climate control block?

Hi everyone,

I have an issue with My Volvo V70 climate control block. The problem is that half of a buttons dont work on my climate control (the climate control itself works fine) I went to the electrician to fix the problem but they only coudve tell me that the climate control in my car is not originaly from my car thats why half of the buttonts dont work. Is it possible to know by cars VIN numb. or in some other way what climate control block belongs to my car originaly?

thanks!

This is from my memory so not guaranteed to be accurate.

I believe another number is on the control block besides the part number. A fellow obtained several of them and finally got one which worked. The implication was that junkyard units' codes had just 5 or 6 "families" to be part of, thus leaving you with an expensive game to play without a guarantee of success.

One theory bandied about was that they had to be "code married" to the car and that Volvo dealers wouldn't recode/remarry a junkyard unit to your car. You had to buy a new one from them.

The general rule of thumb for the CCM units is to ensure all of the buttons at the bottom match those originally in the car, and the model years match up (not necessarily the registration year, also not an easy game if it wasn't you that replaced it!)
