V70 Roof Rails

Hello
Please can someone tell me how the roof rails are fitted? Does the external roof trim strip have to be removed,or cut to fit between fitting points. Are the rails secured with internal bolts? Does the headlining get involved in all of this?

I have the same question as yourself and about to purchase rails for 1998 model. How did you get on?
