Default lights not lighting after changing radio...

Hi, Folks

I hate standard equipment...

I decided to take out the huge square shaped cassette/radio from my S70. I replaced it with a nice standard sized Sony head unit.

However, I've since discovered that the dashboard lights don't light up. I've checked the fuse box and everything is fine there. The headlights work as normal, as does everything else; with the exception of the damn dashboard illumination... I have a sneaking suspicion that it's something to do with the many wires that were originally plugged into the back of the standard cassette/radio unit.

Many of these wires are now not connected to anything as there must have been about 24 all in. But I only needed a positive, a negative and the 8 speaker wires to operate my standard head unit.

Can anybody point me in the right direction, please?

Pheew - found the problem - the thin pink & white coloured wire that runs into the back of the standard head unit. It controls the brightness of the LCD screen - ie, screen becomes dimmer when the headlights are switched on at night. I simply removed it from the back of my new head unit and everythings fine....

Hope this is of some use to other peeps....

Cheers for reading...
